Digital Certificate Services
Login e-Banking by Digital Certificate:
1. Why should I login with digital certificate?
  Both e-Banking User ID or digital certificate can be used to access our e-Banking service without prior registration. Moreover, a digital certificate brings you extra security and protects you from unauthorized access to your account(s).

In physical world, when customers make transactions with their accounts, they have to present a passbook together with their authorized signature. To use the e-Banking User ID for the login is similar to the action that you present the passbook at the bank counter. Submitting the Personal Identification Number (PIN) is similar to provide your signature for verfication. Using an digital certificate is similar to presenting a passbook together with your HKID at the bank counter. Besides, you are still required to submit your Personal Identification Number (PIN) for verification.

2. Why the e-Banking system prompt me to setup login method?
  To provide added security for your online banking transactions, the first time you login e-Banking Service with digital certificate, system will ask you to setup one of the following login methods:

Login with Digital Certificate Only
Login with Digital Certification Or e-Banking User ID

If you choose to login with Digital Certificate only, system will not accept your e-Banking User ID login to provent unauthorized access to your e-Banking account.

You may change your setup by online select "Change Login Method" Under User Profile Update in e-Banking Service.
3. Can I use digital certificate issued by which Certificate Authority?
  Digital certificate issued by HongKong Post is accepted.
4. What is the PIN of the Digital Certificate used for?
  To safeguard your digital certificate from unauthorized access, a digital certificate is locked by a PIN granted by the certificate authority. Without the password, you cannot use an Digital Certificate. Thus, each time you choose a digital certificate, you have to input this digital certificate PIN.
5. What is the basic requirement for my PC in order to use the Digital Certificate?
  Pentium 133 or above, 32 MB RAM Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, NT, Netscape Communicator 6.2.3 / Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 128-bit (or above) encryption, 100MB Hard disk.

* Remarks: You will be rejected to access Dah Sing e-Banking Chinese version if you are using Netscape 6.2.3 in Windows NT and login with Digital Certificate storing in diskette.
6. Can I use more than one digital certificate to login the e-Banking Service?
  No, one customer can only has one digitial certificate record in our Bank. If you want to use another digital certificate, you have to replace the previous.
7. How do I know that my digital certificate is properly installed in the browser?
  For Netscape Users:
1. Open your Netscape browser;
2. Click on the security icon (the one that looks like a padlock) from the main toolbar;
3. Select Certificates > Yours from the menu on the left. Verify that your new e-Cert is listed in the personal certificates display.
4. To view your digital certificateparticulars, select it and then click the 'view' button.

For Internet Explorer Users:
1. In your Internet Explorer browser, Click Tools from the pull-down menu and select Internet Options.
2. In the Internet Options window, click on the tab Content and select Certificates.
3. To view your digital particulars, select it and then click the'view' button.
8. Can I access to e-Banking service in case my digital certificate is expired or revoked?
  You will be rejected to access our e-Banking service if the digital certificate used is expired or revoked. However, as your digital certificate is served as an identification in our Bank, it is your responsibility to report to us any loss or expiry.
9. I have deleted my Netscape Navigator and installed the latest version. How do I reinstall my digital certificate?
  If you have removed your old copy of Netscape Navigator, you have also deleted the file that contains the private key associated with your digital certificate. Without that private key or a back-up copy, you cannot reinstall your digital certificate. You need to apply for a new one. For Upgrading Navigator by using the Netscape installer preserves your personal information, including your digital certificate and private key. In future, whenever you need to upgrade Navigator, you should use this installer.
10. Can I import my digital certificate and Private Key Generated from Netscape into Internet Explorer?
  The two browsers are not identical in terms of functionality and technical constraints. Hence, difficulties may be encountered when a digital certificate is transferred from Netscape to Internet Explorer. Even after a successful transfer, please re-test the encryption and signature functions thoroughly before relying on it.
11. Why this security warning dialog box appears when I login Dah Sing e-Banking Service with digital certificate?
  Digital Certificate

Login Dah Sing e-Banking Service with Digital Certificate requires downloading software to proceed Certificate Data Confirmation. Please check the box of "Always trust content from Unihub Limited" so that the dialog box will not prompt again and you can continue login e-Banking Service with digital certificate.
12. What are the supporting storage media of Digital Certificate Login for accessing Dah Sing e-Banking Service?
  With regards to the security enhancement for Dah Sing e-Banking Service, it only accepts "Smart ID" and "iKey 2000 Series" as the digital certificate login storage media. The digital certificate storage media of "Diskette" is not accepted and the "Other Storage Media - including USB Token / Smart Card" only accepts "iKey 2000 Series".
13. If I am using digital certificate storage media (e.g. Diskette) other than "Smart ID" or "iKey 2000 Series", could I still login Dah Sing e-Banking Service from 30 September, 2009 onwards?
  No. Dah Sing Bank e-Banking Service only supports "Smart ID" and "iKey 2000 Series" as the digital certificate storage media.
14. If I do not have "Smart ID" or "iKey 2000 Series", how and where I could register them?
  Dah Sing Bank does not issue nor providing registration of digital certificate, you could refer to Certificate Authorities (e.g. Hongkong Post e-Cert) for details.
Fund transfers to unregistered third-party accounts service:
15. Could I perform "online fund transfers to unregistered third-party accounts" once I registered Digital Certificate Login of Dah Sing e-Banking Service?
 

The service of "online fund transfers to unregistered third-party accounts" is disabled when a new registration* is first activated. Customers* could visit any Dah Sing Bank branch or mail the registration form to activate the service.
* refers to new customer account registration of Dah Sing e-Banking Service with digital certificate login or customers with existing Dah Sing e-Banking Service who register Digital Certificate login on or after 30 September, 2009.

16. How do I activate the service of "online fund transfers to unregistered third-party accounts"?
  Customers could visit any of Dah Sing Bank branches or mail the registration form for the activation.
17. What happen to the service of "online fund transfers to unregistered third-party accounts" if I do not use the service for a prolonged period of time?
  The service for your account will be deactivated if such service has not been used* for 12 months.
* refers to successful execution and completion of instruction.
18. If the service of "online fund transfers to unregistered third-party accounts" is deactivated, how could I reactivate it?
  Customers could visit any of the Dah Sing Bank branches or mail the registration form for reactivation.
19. How do I know when my last "online fund transfers to unregistered third-party accounts" was conducted?
  Due to system limitation, our bank is unable to provide such transfer records. Customers are recommended to maintain their own records (e.g. bank statement).
20. How can I deactivate the "online fund transfers to unregistered third-party accounts"?
  Customers could visit any of Dah Sing Bank branches or mail the registration form for the deactivation.
Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants service:
21. What is the new arrangement for the service of Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants?
 

With effect from 12 July 2012, the service of Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants# is disabled when a new customer registration^ is first activated. Customers could visit any Dah Sing Bank branch or mail the registration form to activate the service. In addition, the service will be disabled for your account if such service has not been used for 12 consecutive months. You could visit any Dah Sing Bank branch or mail the registration form to reactivate the service.
^ Refers to new customer account registration of Dah Sing e-Banking Service with Digital Certificate Login or customers with existing Dah Sing e-Banking Service who register Digital Certificate Login on or after 12 July 2012.

# The service of Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants includes:

  • online adding new bill of unregistered designated merchants
  • making online bill payment to unregistered designated merchants

Designated merchants refer to merchants which are classified as Banking and Credit Card Services, Securities Broker, Credit Services category and other pre-registration required merchants. Please click here for the Merchant List.

22. Could I perform online bill payment to unregistered designated merchants once I registered Digital Certificate Login of Dah Sing e-Banking Service?
  The service of Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants would be default as disabled when a customer first registered Digital Certificate Login of Dah Sing e-Banking Service.
23. How do I activate the service of Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants?
  Customers could visit any of Dah Sing Bank branches or mail the registration form for the activation.
24. What happen to the service of Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants if I do not use the service for a prolonged period of time?
 

The service for your account will be deactivated if such service has not been used* for 12 consecutive months. (For details, please see 21.)

* Refers to customers who did not successfully complete and/or execute any transaction instruction of the above Pay Easy Online Bill Payment service for 12 consecutive months.

25. If the service of Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants is deactivated, how could I reactivate it?
 

Customers could visit any of the Dah Sing Bank branches or mail the registration form for reactivation.

26. How do I know when my last Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants was conducted?
  Customers could check the bill payment history from "Payment History" of "Pay Easy Bill Payment" in Dah Sing e-Banking Service.
27. .How can I deactivate the Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants?
  Customers could visit any of Dah Sing Bank branches or mail the registration form for the deactivation.
SMS notification for Digital Certificate service:
28. What is the purpose of the SMS notification sent by Dah Sing Bank?
 

The SMS notification is a measure to strengthen Internet banking security and to ensure that the online instruction received by Dah Sing e-Banking is from the customer who actually places the instruction.

29. Which e-Banking services would have SMS notification service?
 

A SMS notification will be sent by Dah Sing Bank after customers have placed an "online fund transfers to unregistered third-party accounts" instruction or " Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants#" instruction. Customers shall provide valid mobile phone numbers for receiving SMS notification.

With effect from 16 February 2012, even if you have subscribed for the "SMS Forwarding Service" provided by telecommunication service providers in Hong Kong, the SMS for the above transactions will only be sent to the mobile phone number registered with our Bank and such SMS will not be forwarded to any other mobile phone number.

30. Why am I not able to receive the SMS notification sent by Dah Sing Bank after performing the fund transfer or add bill of Pay Easy Online Bill Payment service?
 

A SMS notification will be sent by Dah Sing Bank after customers have placed an "online fund transfers to unregistered third-party accounts" instruction or "Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants #" instruction. Customers shall provide valid mobile phone numbers for receiving SMS notification and notify Dah Sing Bank immediately if the mobile phone numbers are changed. Customers could submit the Customer Information Amendment Form for update.

With effect from 16 February 2012, even if you have subscribed for the "SMS Forwarding Service" provided by telecommunication service providers in Hong Kong, the SMS for the above transactions will only be sent to the mobile phone number registered with our Bank and such SMS will not be forwarded to any other mobile phone number.

31. What do I need to do when I receive the SMS notification?
 

The SMS notification indicates an online instruction you just placed via Dah Sing e-Banking Service, you may check the transaction details through Dah Sing e-Banking Service. Should you have further enquiries about the details, please contact our customer service hotline at 2828 8000 for assistance.

32. What are the merchant categories I added in Pay Easy Online Bill Payment Service will receive the SMS notification sent by Dah Sing Bank?
 

The SMS notification applies to the designated merchants which are classified as Banking and Credit Card Services, Securities Broker, Credit Services category and other pre-registration required merchants. Please click here for the merchant list.

33. If I have never provided my mobile number to Dah Sing Bank, could I still perform the "fund transfer to unregistered third-party accounts" and "Pay Easy Online Bill Payment to unregistered designated merchants" (see 30.) in Dah Sing e-Banking Service?
 

No. For Internet banking security reason, customers could only perform such online services with valid mobile phone number provided for SMS notification purpose. Customers could submit the Customer Information Amendment Form for providing mobile phone number. Alternatively, customers could visit any of Dah Sing Bank branches to pre-register designated third party accounts and merchant bills for fund transfer via Dah Sing e-Banking Service.
